Hernando Farmers Market sponsored by Sky Lake Construction Location: Historic Hernando Town Square Season: Saturdays, April 26 – October 25 (except 5/16 and 9/26) Hours: 8am-1pm It’s a place to shop. It’s a place to gather. But most of all, it’s a chance to slow down and experience the rich, simple charm of a Mississippi small town. Welcome to the Hernando Farmers Market — truly “A Fresh, Local Experience.” Shop a wide variety of local goods including fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, local milk, pork, pasture-raised eggs, local honey, preserved and canned items, nursery plants, baked goods, cut flowers, herbs, fresh salsa and guacamole, and handmade crafts. More than a market Throughout the season, enjoy live music, free fitness classes, and special events held during market hours. Children’s Day – Power of Produce (POP) sponsored by Desoto Children’s Clinic Children’s Day is held the last Saturday of each month from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the front lawn of the courthouse. Free children’s activities are hosted by local organizations, and the first 100 children will receive free books and POP Bucks. POP Bucks are valued at $5 and may be used with any produce vendor at the market. These bucks encourage healthy eating at an early age while teaching children the value of a dollar. Senior Day Sponsored by Desoto County Farm Bureau Federation Senior Days are held on the second Saturday of each month throughout the season. The first 100 seniors get a $5 token to spend at the market. Double Up Food Bucks Credit cards and SNAP/EBT can be redeemed at the Farmers Market table for tokens to be used at vendor booths. Thanks to a grant from the Double Up Food Bucks Mississippi program, SNAP recipients receive additional tokens to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables. How Double Up Food Bucks works For every $1 spent on fruits and vegetables using SNAP benefits, shoppers receive an additional $1, up to $20 per transaction. As a Mississippi Certified Market designated by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, you can be assured of fresh, local food and products.
